It is 3:12 a.m. and as study VH-1 is a special following United States soldier’s in Baghdad and Iraq. A group of soldiers are singing congregational hymns while the sound of gun shots ring in the background.

The special documenting the different music selections used for motivation while in the field. Many of the soldiers appear to be young men—early twenties. I served in the reserves, and cannot image how my life would be if I would still be in the military right now. Thousands of people have lost there lives for the freedom enjoy this country. America is not perfect but it is what we make it. Voting allows Americans to use our most powerful form of persuasion. Voting allows the public to send a message to our elected officials. Now all of the people that visit my site, I ask a small favor…VOTE.

If you dislike the way the country is changing…VOTE.
If you want your children have better schools…VOTE.
If you are tired of being silenced…VOTE.
If you love this country...VOTE.
If you…..just GO and VOTE.

My college graduation was on May 8th. I still cannot believe that it has come and gone so quickly. Now I am readying myself for the summer. This summer I will attend a legal summer program that will include taking a few law courses and some course to help with time management and studying. The program will be for six-weeks and then I am off to law school in the fall.

My posts will be sporadic, but I will be reading and replying to e-mails. Keep the words of encouragement coming.

Have a wonderful and safe summer and I will talk with you again, soon.

Well...I haven’t posted a message in a while. My life has changed in more ways than one. To begin, I have been accepted to law school. Yeah!!! I must say that I am able to breathe for once. My life was so tense waiting for the responses from the schools. This has been the must difficult time in my life to date. I am proud of how I have handled things, but I know that more is to come.

Graduation is right around the corner. I am working full-time currently and taking six classes to complete my degree. I will be graduating in May. Then off to law school in August.

I see “change” in the horizon. I am excited, and beginning to prepare myself for the road that is ahead. I have a wonderful program that I am scheduled to be apart of for the summer to prepare for law school. My family is excited, and we are ready to move on to the next step. So I am fully focused on completing my current classes—so that I will graduate with honors—and walk across that stage into my new life.

I must say a quick word to everyone that visits this site...we must all be accountable for our actions. I say this to stress the upcoming elections. Every voice and vote is important. We must all make time to research the issues and the candidates involved. I know that it’s hard to do with busy schedules. But we must ensure the health of our community for our children and our people. We—the African America community—must stand united and demand safer schools, with qualified teachers. We must demand, that our elected officials, and law enforcement be held accountable for their actions. We must demand, better living conditions. The only way that we can do this is by letting our voices be heard. We won’t all agree—on the issues, and the means of achieving our goals—but we must begin to stand up and make our voices heard.

Today, we have African-American women, men, and children dying of AIDS. We have too many African-American men in prison. We have too few of our children envisioning college, and beyond. We are responsible today for our tomorrow. We decide what is acceptable and what is not. African-American children surrounded by poverty, and violence—unacceptable—African-American men, being primary targets for the death penalty—unacceptable—continued lay-offs—unacceptable. Make the decision today to say, “enough is enough.” Maybe we—I—didn’t do enough yesterday to further our advancement in this society, but I—we—can change that today.

God Bless. Continue to keep my family in your prayers and I will do the same. Thank you all for the e-mails and the support. Talk with you soon...:o)

Ok, so I haven’t posted in over a month…sorry. :o) My life has truly been interesting. First, I had to get past finals. They had me going in circles, since I had seven classes this semester. I also started working with a new law firm and they have me very busy.

So just to get everyone up to date on what is going on. My LSAT didn’t go as well as I wanted. But it will only be a small bump in the road to Law School. So I decided to study so more and retake the test. I expect to receive my second score the first week of January. Here are some of the schools that I selected:

* University of Texas in Austin Texas
* Texas Southern University in Houston Texas
* Washington and Lee University in Virginia
* Howard University in Washington, DC

These are just a few of the schools. The selection process has been harder than I anticipated since I have to really consider the score that I received on my LSAT. I worked really hard on my personal statement, and my grades are still really good. So now I just pray that each committee member will consider everything that I send in with equal weight. Regardless, I will walk away knowing that I gave it 100%.

For the summer I have been working on applications to various programs hoping to end on the east coast. I would like to work in Washington, DC for the summer so that I can have a different experience, possible open a few doors for the future.

Before I sign off I would like to thank everyone that has sent emails to me. This has been one of the best projects that I have worked on. I have received so much support and encouragement. So again I say THANK YOU!!!!!

Remember to be prayerful, and know that God will only give you what he knows you can bear. Sometimes the load seems unbearable but trust that he knows best.

Email me, and Happy Holidays.

It has been a while since I have posted and a lot has happened in the past few weeks. Monday is the big day…LSAT scores. School is busier than ever and my life is going at a 100 m.p.h. I have already submitted a few law school applications so now I will just be playing the waiting game. So keep me in mind…

For my one of my courses at school I have been assigned a research paper. For my topic I have selected genital mutilation, which has been really hard to get through the reading due to the graphic nature of the material. This topic is something that I have wanted to learn more about. I have heard bits and pieces over the past few years but not many details. Well, while I was reading “Warrior Marks” written by Alice Walker for research and she begins to describe something really interesting in the introduction:

I believe we are destined to meet the people who will support, guide, and nurture us on our life’s journey, each of them appearing at the appropriate time, accompanying us at least part of the way. I think specific human beings, sometimes only in spirit, will present themselves in such a way that their presence will shape and reshape our hearts until we are more fully who we are. This particular magic or synchronicity is activated by something both simple and profound: we must adhere to our own peculiar way, that is the only chance we have to meet those spirits who wander along our road; we must persist in being true to our most individual soul.

I have observed this process over and over in my life, always with the greatest amazement. Part of the optimism I am able to maintain in the face of the worst realities is a result of knowing that many companion spirits are patiently waiting to join me in any endeavor or along any path I take in the world – after all, this has simply been my experience so – and that all I must do is begin.

There is a feeling of security in this and a degree of serenity that astonishes even me.

When I read this section I had a feeling that I can’t explain. For most of my adult life I have always just said a prayer of thanks to the Lord for placing certain people in my life. But, after reading this section for once I had words to connect with my thoughts. I guess it could be explained as one of those Oprah moments…:o).

I want to say thanks again for all of the support. I love the emails and the words of encouragement. Keep the emails coming…with all that’s going on it is a good break from my normal day. After work, school, studying, and law school admissions any breaks are welcomed.

Well, I have one week until I take the LSAT. I can't believe that the time has pasted so quickly. Just last week I went to the law school forum in Atlanta, GA and I had the opportunity to meet recruiters from many law schools. We drove total over 30 hours and it was worth every minute.

While in Atlanta I was able to learn more about the schools that I am interested in attending and I also found a few that I didn't know anything about. I also enjoyed Atlanta and I plan to visit again.

While in Atlanta I seen locks in many different stages...and they were beautiful. I saw one sista that had her locks for over three years and they were breath taking. One day I too will be able to say the same...

Keep me in your prayers and I will do the same.
